Any reason other teams are not jumping at this whole dispute to sign O'Reilly to an offer sheet?
Also am I wrong in thinking that RFA's who don't sign during their RFA year, become UFA in July?

Offer sheets are still far more rare than people think. Its a risk to lose multiple first round picks for a player who may continue to be a 50pt or higher guy. Or go back to being a 3rd C.

I hope the Av's are able to get something done that doesnt cripple them in the future. There is a nice core if youngster on this team.

I wonder if this is what the Avs were thinking when they drafted Heard. Just in case O'Reilly contract situation went south.

Well. The plus side to it is that they will continue to own his rights for awhile. He's gonna have to blink. He isnt gonna want to stay in Russia. This is one of the issue of a 2nd competitive league combined with a lock out. Use the KHL as contract leverage for salary. Not to mention the KHL said they would give him money ontop of his current salary. Prolly more to help him get paid and screw North America.

If the Av's feel they cant reach a common ground they'll end up moving him for some assets.

O'Reilly and his agent, Mark Guy, are seeking a four or five year deal worth $5 million per year

I really do not blame colorado for not wanting to sign him to a deal like that

Aaron, HUGE favor to ask, I now live in a third world country and dont have any access to internet besides on my phone I will be waking up early Sunday morning to possibly catch the Avs box score on NHL if it decides to load. That being said hockeybuzz does load up about 50% of the time so would a live blog be possible for you to do? It would be the easiest way for me to see how they are doing, it would be incredibly appreciated.

Ps sorry for any double or triple posts ahead of time

Yes but on that same note. He was theyre most productive player last year. There is something to be said for that. But this is a case of where the bridge contract is amazing. He needs to sign a Duchene like contract.

I think a 2 year 3.5mill is reasonable for oreiley. They are lowering the cap ceilings and these players still expect these stupid contracts (see zajac's)
I hope you guys don't overpay him, you'll need the salary room

Well if Colorado wants to play hard ball with him I hope he pushes back. He should sign for tha cash amount they say they want to pay but make the length up until he hits ufa status. If they don't like that hecan threaten to stay in the KHL.

I bet he has been traded and was pulled from the lineup. I predict he was traded to Buffalo for a 1st rounder and Adrej Sekera.

OR.... maybe he signed an offer sheet.

He never said they were exclusive and I never a saw a ring on his finger. Come to think of it, no one near Buffalo has a ring yet.

I can try to do one for sure. You can also check out my Twitter feed from the game day. I'm under the name Avalangelist. That'll give you some more insights as well.

I'm doing a viewing party that's walking distance from me so I won't be doing a live blog but if you follow @Rocks_Hockey, he usually does a wonderful job about in-game updates.
